Annual Board and Members Social Dinner

Join us for our Annual Board and Social Dinner, Thursday, May 17th, 6PM-9PM at Perry’s Restaurant.
This is our annual board and members meeting/dinner.

Our program includes:
6:00 PM     Cocktail/Social
6:30 PM     Welcome followed by Business Meeting – President Wylie Donaldson
7:00 PM     Invocation – Dinner
8:00 PM     Introduction of Guest Speaker – President Donaldson

GUEST SPEAKER:  Principal Civil War Living History Presenter, Eddie E. Roberts.  “Mr. Roberts has more than 30 years of experience as a Civil War re-enactor of both Union and Confederate forces.  A U.S. Army Veteran, Mr. Roberts served in Vietnam and later supported military logistics and transportation operations.  History, particularly the Civil War era, has been a primary interest of Mr. Roberts; he currently serves as the Vice President of the Dr. Samuel Mudd Society and led the Sons of Union Veterans Camp No. 5 as Commander for eight consecutive terms.”

 “Most recently recognized by the Sons of Union Veterans at their 2015 National Encampment, Mr. Roberts received a meritorious service award for his leadership in planning, organizing and managing events at the Dr. Mudd Farm in observance of the 150th anniversary of the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln.  Mr. Roberts resides in Waldorf with his wife Angela.”

TOPIC:  FOOTSTEPS, “A presentation by Eddie Roberts, is a delightful and informative performance of Civil War facts, perspective, and humor presented live in character from both Union and Confederate points of view.  Eddie Roberts portrays his great-grandfathers for a captivating conversation about their real life experiences and views during one of this nation’s most challenging times.”

“You’ll meet Jacob Presley from Tennessee, who fought for the Union with General Sherman’s forces on their march to Atlanta and gave his life in the cause to preserve this nation.  You’ll also meet William P. Roberts of North Carolina, who began the war as a private and served with distinction throughout to Appomattox becoming, at age 23, the youngest Confederate general officer.  The presentation will include a brief overview of Maryland in the Civil War.”
