Old Masonic Hall

Within the Odenton Historic District the Old Masonic Hall is the largest building and serves as a centerpiece. Located at 1367 Odenton Road, the Old Masonic Hall was built in 1912 and served as the meeting place for Odenton Lodge 209 of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons from 1912-2001. During World War I soldiers and officers joined the Masons attending meetings and receiving support within the walls of the Masonic Hall, which served as their home-away-from-home. After World War I, the Odenton Lodge continued to welcome the Masons from Camp Meade, many of them serving as officers of the lodge. Through the years the Odenton lodge held a quiet but consistent role offering service to area Masons as well as support to the community.

The Odenton Heritage Society acquired the building from the Masons in 2001 and it is now designated as the Odenton Heritage Society Historical Center which serves as a local history museum, public archives, the Societys office, events location and a community meeting place. The second floor of the Center houses a museum with artifacts, photographs and text displays outlining the rich history of Odenton.

The Historical Center is open on the first Sunday of each month from 1PM-4PM.  The OHS has completed a great deal of renovation to the interior and exterior of the building to have it look as close to the original as possible. The building was officially placed on the National Register of Historic Places on July 25, 2022..
