Family History and Genealogy
Odenton’s rich history has been driven by families who have lived in town for generations. Many current residents can proudly identify relatives that worked on the railroads in the 1800s, operated general stores in the early 20th century, or attended church or school in buildings that now serve as landmarks reflecting the town’s history.
The Odenton Heritage Society is happy to assist any resident or visitor in their efforts to learn more about their family’s ties to Odenton. The Dorothy S. Hammond Research Room, located at the Odenton Historical Center museum, offers books and other reading material to assist in research projects. OHS members and volunteers are eager to help. The research room is available to the public by appointment.
